Development of Warm In-Place Recycling Technique as an Eco-Friendly Asphalt Rehabilitation Method

Cold In-place Recycling (CIR) has been widely used in the world since it is easy to apply field at a low cost. However, not normally as surface layer result of its inconsistent quality due an excessive amount fine aggregates pulverized during milling process. Hot (HIR) can retain original shape aggregates, but often produces large Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Therefore, third in-place recycling technique introduced this paper: Warm (WIR). The WIR overcomes limitations both CIR and HIR techniques by lowering heating temperature while adding Tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA)/Soybean/SBS additive. To identify effect additive on RTFO-aged binder, viscosity dynamic modulus values were measured different temperatures. Based Hamburg Wheel Tracking (HWT) Disc-Shaped Compact Tension (DCT) tests, improved moisture susceptibility cracking resistance. indirect infrared equipment reduced emission pavement 20 °C from 140 120 °C. Compared with °C, LPG usage for was lowered 21%. proposed would revolutionize practices.
